KL: How did you get started out in the beauty industry?

BF: From an early age, I loved playing with makeup and exploring its creative possibilities. Although I originally studied psychology and planned a different career, moving to Los Angeles opened my eyes to the beauty industry’s opportunities. I decided to follow my passion and build my career as a makeup artist.

KL: What do you love most about being a makeup artist?

BF: I love helping people feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone light up when they look in the mirror and feel like the best version of themselves.

KL: How would you describe your signature style or aesthetic?

BF: My signature style is soft glam—elevated, polished looks that enhance natural beauty while still feeling refined and timeless.

KL: How do you get inspiration for your makeup looks?

BF: My inspiration comes from my clients themselves, as well as a love for timeless elegance and the subtle beauty found in everyday life. I enjoy studying each face and designing looks that highlight individual features and reflect each person’s unique personality.

KL: Any advice you would give to someone just starting out in the industry?

BF: Stay true to your unique style, keep practicing your craft, and never stop learning. Build genuine connections, be patient with your journey, and remember that hard work and kindness go a long way.

KL: What is the most memorable job you've ever done?

BF: I’ve been blessed to work on many amazing projects, but one of my favorites was collaborating alongside Sarah Nelson during a photoshoot for Monica Rose. I’ve also loved working on documentary films, where the storytelling adds a unique dimension to the artistry.

KL: What do you look for in a great pair of lashes?

BF: I look for lashes that enhance the eyes naturally, with a soft, flexible band for comfort and seamless blending. I always keep Kasha’s individual lashes on me - they’re my all time favorite for creating customized, beautiful looks.

KL: How do you decide which lash style to use on a client?

BF: I choose lash styles based on my client’s eye shape, the look they’re aiming for, and how dramatic or natural they want their makeup to feel. My goal is always to enhance their features while keeping the overall look balanced and harmonious.

KL: Can you give us some lash tips and best ways to apply false eyelashes?

BF: I always have my clients look down instead of closing their eyes for better placement. Letting the lash glue dry slightly before applying helps prevent slipping. One of my favorite techniques, especially for individual lashes, is the “painting” method - dipping the lash in glue, lightly painting a bit onto the natural lash, then placing the false lash for extra hold and seamless blending.

KL: Which Kasha styles do you enjoy the most and why?

BF: I love Kasha’s individual 8mm and 10mm lashes. They blend beautifully, are incredibly comfortable to wear, and add just the right amount of definition without ever looking unnatural.

1. I can’t live without? My dog, Roxie. She’s been with me since college, journeyed with me from Georgia to Los Angeles and back, and has been by my side through every chapter. She’s truly my best friend.
2. Favourite beauty trend at the moment? I’m loving this soft glam trend - makeup that’s beautifully blended with no harsh lines. It’s all about enhancing natural features rather than changing them, creating a look that’s polished yet effortless.
3. One product that’s always in your makeup kit? I can’t choose just one, but these three are constant repurchases: the Makeup by Mario Master Mattes Eyeshadow Palette, Charlotte Tilbury’s pressed powders, and Kasha individual lashes. They’re essentials for achieving soft, flawless looks.
4. Beauty Secret? Good sleep and hydration are essential, but my biggest beauty secret is a positive mindset. Feeling confident and at peace within always shines through on the outside.
